"Accompanying Anselm Kiefer on this pictorial journey is a demanding, but without doubt excellent adventure. The latter because your eyes wander through a uniquely real aesthetic and the former because Kiefer demands a great deal from the viewer. This is due to the fact that the history behind the histories demands a significant amount of knowledge and mental work. However, it is worth following Kiefer, as he, in contrast to other artists, does not simply illustrate histories. His narratives get to the heart of history. Kiefer is both an enlightener and a poet.
