Comprises reproductions of all the plates from C. Becker's Kunstwerke und Geräthschaften des Mittelalters und der Renaissance, a joint production with Jakob Heinrich von Hefner-Alteneck that was originally published between 1852 and 1863 (Frankfurt am Main : S. Schmerber). The plates are provided with descriptive texts by Carsten-Peter Warncke.
Introductory essay by Carsten-Peter Warncke has title: Kunst im Bild : Hefner-Altenecks und Beckers Darstellung der Kunstwerke des Mittelalters und der Renaissance = Art in the picture : Hefner-Alteneck and Becker's presentation of the artworks of the Middle Ages and Renaissance = L'Art en image : La representation des oeuvres d'art du Moyen Age et de la Renaissance par Hefner-Alteneck et Becker.
